Logos.

Here is the logo with some logotypes. The ones with 'coffee' in them are an example of how the product will work into the logo on the packaging. Still haven't locked down my direction color-wise, but I do like the orange and brown as it will be on a brown recycled paper/cardboard box.
I tried some different typefaces that I thought conveyed both organic and 'of the people'.
On the logo circle I used a slight 'roughen' under effect>distort and transform to make it slightly less perfectly circular.

Thoughts?

Grrr...just wrote a novel length post that disappeared somewhere in the ether. I'll try to remember everything I had written originally...

First, the circle that isn't a perfect circle really speaks to me...fits perfectly with the feeling of a product that is intended to provide a quality/organic food to the masses at an affordable price.

Second, I like the illustration you have created--quite evocative of the "power to the people" feeling, making items accessible to the masses, and the wheat to symbolize organic/natural foods. I just read an interesting article all about hand gestures and how they are interpreted very differently in different cultures...thumbs up here is a positive thing but in other countries it means "up yours". So, it is probably not a big deal since this product would primarily be sold here in the US, but I think it's worth a quick consideration to see how other cultures might view the fist holding the grain, just to make sure it isn't something completely offensive, since we do have so many people from many different cultures living here in the US. The article is in the April edition of Conde Nast Traveller--tried to find it online but I couldn't so I will bring it in for you next week.

Lastly, the typeface/logo mark combo on the far right works the best for me. I think the shapes of the letters really evoke the same feeling of the not-perfect-circle shape, and really feel like they unite everything together well as a whole. I also really like the road you are going down with using the product line name as part of the logo...I think maybe changing up the color of that for each different product would help differentiate it/help it stand out for consumers.

I really like your brand name. I think it achieves the mass appeal you are aiming for. It also cuts away at the idea that organic is only for the elite. The fist in the logo has an aggressive quality that conjures up an idea of a brand that is looking out for the middle class reminiscent of 19th century political art. I also think of labor unions and the idea of we need to stick together to keep our power. This could work to your advantage for producing high brand loyalty.

I like that you are using the brown in the logo because it's earthy but depending on the color of the bag, it might not show up the best. The logotype I like the most is located in the middle in the first row. It has an organic quality and is still clean. I prefer the name of the specific product underneath the brand name in a different color since it highlights what the product is. I think the yellow is too soft of a color to match the tone of your brand. That being said I would use a bold, bright color that doesn't have any other connotations such as the reddish orange to communist China as was mentioned during crit. Another thing that came up during crit was maybe reconciling the shape of the type with the circular shape of the logo. You might want to try placing The People's Organic inside of the circle and scaling the fist image down so both elements fit comfortably. You have a strong brand that could tear some of the existing market share away from other higher priced organic lines.

hey so i was smoking on my balcony today and a fitness resource truck went by and kind of reminded me of your logo.. i went to their site and copied their logo image so i wouldn't have to describe it to you and confuse you. Ok well i'm not really sure how to upload an image onto a comment so here's the website instead.. sorry
http://www.fitnessresource.com/

also i don't know if this helps but people's revolution.. (the Public Relations, Branding and Marketing Firm) has the same type of logotype as well, i couldn't find an image online but then again i didn't try that hard...

so my point is maybe you could get some ideas from these logotypes or be inspired in some way...
